Each year, AFP honors individuals who, through their hard work and dedication, have enhanced philanthropy in their communities and the world.  The Outstanding Fundraising Executive award spotlights those fundraisers who have done just this.

2016 Outstanding Fundraising ExecutiveSheila Ferguson
Director of Development
The Resource Exchange

Sheila Ferguson has spent over twenty years supporting the missions of many great nonprofit organizations with her expertise in fundraising, marketing, strategic planning and organizational development. She is currently the Development Director at The Resource Exchange where she leads the philanthropy and marketing efforts that build independence for over 4,400 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). She has raised over $20 million in private funding over her career. Two of her projects included the $3.5 million capital campaign to restore PPLD’s 1905 Carnegie Library downtown and a $5.5 million capital campaign to build a new comprehensive day and therapeutic center for people with IDD in Memphis. Sheila has been a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals since 1994 and currently serves on the local chapter’s board. She has been married for 18 years to Chris; and they are raising two perfect children, Jack (13) and Quinn (11) and one sweet rescue, Fella (4).
