My purpose for my legacy

with Karah Maloley

Building your own legacy starts with defining your own purpose and using that purpose to uplift others. When you are clear about your own mission, you can lead by example, inspiring those around you to find and pursue their passions. A true legacy is created through mentorship, by investing in others, sharing your journey, and fostering an environment of mutual support and growth. This collective empowerment not only amplifies your own impact but also helps others thrive.

About Karah

Karah has been working with individuals and groups, creating space for honest reflection and personal revelation. Her gentle humor and straightforward challenges help leaders uncover what’s moving them forward and what’s holding them back. Karah earned her Masters in Counseling and a Doctorate of Management in Organizational Leadership.

Karah’s career started as a family therapist before moving into leadership. She was a founder of EQmentor, an online community for mentoring with emotional intelligence, where she served as Chief Knowledge Officer, creating training materials and coordinating certification programs. She has been spending her time as a consultant and coach since 2011. Coach Karah works as a facilitator engaging in mastermind groups, consulting, leading the Community Leadership Academy sessions and purpose retreats.

Karah currently lives with her family in the mountains of Colorado. Prior to living in Colorado, she traveled extensively, spending time in the Carolinas, Germany, and Italy before settling in the Vail Valley. She and her husband David have a 14 year old son, Bennett.

The Courage of Legacy

with Brandy Bertram,
Founder & Principal of Great Big Good, LLC

Planned Giving – too complicated, too risky, too rich, too many other things to do. These are just some of the stories we tell ourselves as donors, organizational leaders, and fundraising professionals about why we can’t, shouldn’t. or don’t want to add planned giving to our fundraising programs. But what’s real, and what’s myth in the stories we tell? And what else might be possible if we courageously choose to craft a new story – one that removes the self-imposed limits that are standing between us, our donors, and the impact we both want?
About Brandy

For over two decades, Brandy has been dedicated to helping mission-centered leaders and organizations generate good in our communities by moving forward what matters most. She specializes in strategies to attract, engage, and grow resources that fuel impact including fundraising, staffing, and volunteer engagement. Brandy’s work has taken her all over the globe where she has led fundraising, talent development, and strategic growth initiatives in sectors ranging from livelihoods development for youth and adults to land conservation and rural transportation infrastructure. She’s had the opportunity to serve in multiple executive roles, both permanent and interim, including as CEO / Executive Director, Chief Operations Officer, Vice President of Development, Vice President of Talent, and Deputy Director. In addition to her professional efforts, Brandy enjoys supporting her community through volunteer service. She currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for Colorado Planned Giving Roundtable, the nation's premier membership and education organization for planned giving professionals, where she also serves on the Programming Committee. Brandy has been named to the Denver Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 (2007), was named a Top 25 Young Professionals by CoBiz Magazine (2013, update 2024), was honored with the Peter Bowes Award from the Downtown Denver Partnership (2016) and was recognized as the Colorado Planned Giving Roundtable Volunteer of the Year (2023). She is a proud graduate of the University of Wyoming and loves spending time with her husband and rescue wonder-dog, Wallace.
