About Us

Purpose statement and IDEA Definition and Resolution

In February 2019, the AFP Southern Colorado Board of Directors held a retreat and identified our strategic plan goals for the next three (2019-2022) years to focus on organizational excellence, membership growth, program impact, and effective communication. As leaders, we proudly embrace behaviors of high quality, impact, passion, innovation, and collaboration. And we tackled the big questions, such as why we are members of AFP, what programs to focus on in future, how to expand our reach and offer new value to members, and the collective impact on the community of our work.

Purpose statement approved February 2019:

AFP Southern Colorado is a network of ethical fundraising leaders who set the gold standard for Southern Colorado philanthropy. We provide educational resources, professional development, and best practices to advance our nonprofit community.

The AFP Southern Colorado Chapter Board of Directors formally adopted the following definition and resolution at its March 24, 2021 meeting:

AFP Southern Colorado Chapter IDEA Definition

The Association of Fundraising Professionals Southern Colorado Chapter defines IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity, and access) as an ongoing commitment to both reflect, embrace, and celebrate the diversity of our membership and the communities we serve. The word diversity encompasses aspects of identity including race, ethnicity, age, gender identity and expression, physical and mental ability, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, religion, veteran status, and other member-identified markers of identity, and is not limited to these terms. AFP Southern Colorado strives to create a welcoming and inclusive environment, inviting as many unique perspectives and identities as possible to better inform our work and be representative of our Southern Colorado community. AFP Southern Colorado will work to make all of its communications and programming accessible to all persons with equitable safeguards in place to address unique needs within our members and community. Finally, AFP Southern Colorado intends to serve as the preeminent provider of resources related to IDEA for the Southern Colorado fundraising community.
